![]() ![]() I agree with BarbBinder, who also provided the helpful links for you. The transition was smooth, and Indesign has continued to become more efficient, easy to use with each version. If anyone knows how to Save back into the originating directory, after a conversion, rather than C:\My Documents, I would really appreciate the advice. Jacques, I was also a long-time Pagemaker user (from 1.0, on), and made the transition to Adobe Indesign shortly after it became available. I can deal with onesy twosy saves but when I have ten or more docs that need to be converted and stored back, this bug is a real pain. We have converted from PM6.5 to PM7 and now have to undergo a serious document conversion. But, the save directory defaults to C:\My Documents\ and I have to drill back into my desired directory. I have been doing quite a bit of research over the past week to learn how to make PM7 save back into the originating directory after I've opened a PM6.5 doc, modified it, and am ready to save it back to the originating directory. Now "Save and Save As" are a different matter. This little trick will work in almost all programs. In the "Start In:" box of the Shortcut Tab, put the directory you want PM to always look in first (such as O:\15c\Data\) After PM starts and when you open your first document, the Open folder will be in the desired directory. Let's try the first way of installing to see if that works: Right click the installation file, choose Properties, click the Compatibility tab, put a check in the top checkbox, choose 'Windows Vista' from the pull down menu, click the Ok button, and run. ![]() In the Properties Menu, select the Shortcut Tab. There are scores of way to install it the correct way could be discovered by me remoting in and analyzing your system. Select the PM shortcut icon and Right Click. On my desktop, I have a folder that contains all the startup shortcuts for my Adobe products (PM, PS, ACRO, Illus, etc). Here's how I start up PM in the directory of my choice. ![]()
